WHAT IS A LOG HOME?

A classic log home, though many different log profiles, wood species and joinery, is a full log wall constructed home where the exterior logs are installed horizontally and serves as the finished exterior wall of the home. Interior walls are typically conventionally framed and finished with drywall, log siding or paneling but can also be made to be full log if desired.

WHAT IS A TIMBER FRAME HOME?

A classic timber frame home, though many different species of wood and several methods of joinery,  has a main skeleton, decorative as well as structural, wood frame that is self-supporting by timber pegs and/or required fasteners. The frame is then finished on the exterior with your choice of siding finish, be it natural or maintenance free. The interior walls are finished with your choice of material and typically is installed in such a way that the timbers stand out proud of the selected finish, be it drywall or wood paneling. Timber Frame is a nice choice if you like the wood timber feel while also achieving a maintenance free or simply more choices of the exterior as well as more options of the interior wall and ceiling finish.

WHAT IS A POST AND BEAM HOME?

A post and beam home is primarily a conventionally framed home with conventional finish materials that incorporate in wood accented vertical posts and horizontal beams. These timbers or engineered beams could be structural members as well but either way they stand out proud of the finished interior or exterior walls and ceilings. This application is used when wood accents are desired, but not as much as Full Log or Full Timber Frame. This application is also least expensive way to gain wood accents in your home.

WHAT IS A HYBRID TIMBER HOME?

A Hybrid Timber Home is just how it sounds. It’s A home designed utilizing a mix of timber frame and full log home features along side a conventional frame and finish. If you can imagine it, it can be achieved.
